Senate declares Governor Okpebholo's seat vacant

The Senate on Wednesday declared the seat of Governor Monday Okpebholo vacant and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a bye-election to fill the vacancy

Okpebholo’s seat, representing Edo Central Senatorial District, became vacant following his election and inauguration as the Governor of Edo State last month.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the declarations after a valedictory session organized by the Senate in honor of Okpebholo.

Akpabio encouraged the Governor to continue his legacy of good works as he takes on his responsibilities as Edo State Governor.
