Sowore criticizes lack of infrared Drones amid Oyo k!dnapping

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has criticized the government’s security response following the reported a.bduction of children in Oyo State, arguing that modern technology should be playing a greater role in rescue operations.

Reacting to the incident, Sowore expressed disbelief that authorities still lack continuous aerial surveillance capabilities in forested areas where k!dnappers often operate.

“I cannot believe that in 2026, children were k!dnapped in Oyo State and they don’t have a drone that is staying on top of every forest with an infrared to see them at night. As they are moving, they will be monitoring them,” Sowore said.

He maintained that the deployment of drones equipped with infrared technology could significantly improve the tracking of criminal groups, particularly in remote locations and during nighttime operations.

Sowore’s remarks have renewed conversations about the use of advanced surveillance tools in tackling insecurity and responding more effectively to k!dnapping incidents across the country.
