Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has urged Nigerians not to blame President Bola Tinubu for the country’s security challenges, insisting that insecurity predates the current administration
Speaking with journalists, Umahi said it was wrong to politicise security issues, stressing that safeguarding lives and property is a collective responsibility that requires the involvement of all citizens.
He expressed concern over what he described as attempts by some politicians to use insecurity as a tool for political attacks, particularly against the President.
According to him, incidents of insecurity often escalate as election periods draw closer, a trend he described as troubling and unfair.
He said:
“It’s appalling when people talk about insecurity, especially extreme politicians, and insult President Tinubu.
“Insecurity didn’t start with this administration. It is very unfortunate. Security is the job of everyone. Security should not be politicised.
“Why is it that anytime we are approaching elections, there is heightened insecurity? It is very unfair. Anyone who takes the life of another person under any guise, God is watching,” he added.
