Kaylen Dennis, a 17-year-old rising football star and cousin of Sheffield United player Rhian Brewster, tragically passed away after collapsing mid-game on Wednesday, December 11

Dennis was playing for Walthamstow Football Club when he suddenly collapsed on the pitch. Despite efforts to save him, he passed away, leaving the football community in shock.
Walthamstow Football Club confirmed his passing in a heartfelt statement: “We are devastated to learn of the passing of one of our U23 players, Kaylen Dennis, during a game. We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who knew him.”
Dennis’s cause of d3ath remains unknown.
Rhian Brewster paid tribute to his cousin during a match against Millwall, dedicating his goal to Dennis by pointing to the sky in a moving gesture. Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Brewster said, “I want to dedicate that goal to my younger cousin. He passed away earlier today before the game, so that’s one for him and the family. It’s a very tough time for the family, but I played for him today.”
Coach Scott Chickelday described Dennis as a talented and kind-hearted individual: “Kaylen Dennis was not just a talented footballer but also a great character and person. God bless Kaylen, fly high champ.”
Ryan FC, where Dennis began his youth football journey at 13, shared their grief: “We are so upset and devastated at Ryan FC. Kaylen started playing for us at 13, and we watched him progress into senior football. His parents have been so supportive, and all our thoughts are with them and their family.”
Walthamstow Reserves also paid tribute: “Words cannot describe how we feel about this news. A kid with the brightest future, beyond being a talented young footballer, he was a blessed young man. Our football family will gather around his family during this difficult time. Rest in perfect peace, Kaylen Dennis.”
