San Diego FC (SDFC) has announced that GRAMMY Award-winning, Oscar-nominated Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Tems has joined the club’s ownership group through her company, The Leading Vibe
Tems, known for her unique sound and global influence, brings her creative vision and passion for community to the world of soccer as an SDFC Club Partner.
“We are delighted that Tems has joined San Diego FC,” said SDFC Chairman Sir Mohamed Mansour. “She is a globally significant artist who will help us reach new audiences and spread the word about our unique project, which has its foundations in sub-Saharan Africa through the Right to Dream organization.”
SDFC CEO Tom Penn echoed this, emphasizing Tems’ dedication to empowering the next generation, which aligns with the club’s core values. “Her commitment to creating opportunities for young talent reflects the mission of Right to Dream,” he added.
Tems, who won a GRAMMY for Best African Music Performance for Love Me JeJe and another for her work on Future’s Wait for U, expressed excitement about her new role.
“I am thrilled to join San Diego FC’s ownership group and be part of a club that celebrates creativity, culture, and community,” she said. “Football brings people together, and I’m excited to help build something special in San Diego.”
The Lagos-born star joins an elite group of SDFC Club Partners, including actress Issa Rae, World Cup winner Juan Mata, retired U.S. Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, and San Diego Padres star Manny Machado.
Tems’ investment comes through a partnership with Pave Investments, an African private investment firm also involved in NBA Africa. Tunde Folawiyo (Chairman of Pave Investments) and Kwamena Afful (Founding Director) will also join the SDFC ownership group.
Their combined global influence and commitment to community empowerment will help drive San Diego FC and Right to Dream’s mission to inspire and uplift people on and off the field.
