A moment of tension unfolded in the Senate chamber on Wednesday after Senator Abdul Ningi arrived with a traditional spear during plenary, prompting concern among lawmakers and officials
The presence of the object immediately drew attention, with some members questioning why it was brought into the chamber and whether it posed any security risk within the legislative environment.

As officials moved to have it removed through the Sergeant-at-Arms, the senator resisted the move, insisting that he would personally take responsibility for it instead.
“You people should leave it for me, you don’t know the importance of it and what it means,” the senator said.
He further insisted on handling it himself, adding: “I will take it away, but I won’t allow the Sergeant-at-Arms to take it. You don’t know the importance of this and what it means. So, go back, I will take it away.”
The brief confrontation created tension in the chamber before the situation was eventually de-escalated.
