The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has denied allegations of Christian persecution in Nigeria, stating that the country’s security challenges are driven by terrorism and criminal activities rather than religion
Addressing reporters on Tuesday, the Defence Chief said:
“There is no Christian persecution in Nigeria. I want to assure Nigerians that, going forward, we are going to intensify our efforts to curb acts of terrorism across the country.”
Gen. Oluyede reiterated the commitment of the Armed Forces to sustaining military operations against terrorist groups and restoring lasting peace nationwide.
He also urged Nigerians to remain united and resist narratives that could inflame religious tension or threaten national stability.
