Tiger Woods marked Memorial Day with a personal message centered on remembrance and respect for military service.
He paid tribute to fallen U.S. service members and also reflected on his father, Earl Woods, who served in the U.S. Army Special Forces, completed two tours in Vietnam, and spent 20 years in uniform.
Tiger wrote;
“My father was a Special Forces operator with two tours in Vietnam and 20 years of service.
‘To all those like my father, we all say thank you for your sacrifices. Without them we wouldn’t have the greatest country on Earth.”
The post comes after Woods announced in March that he would take a break from public attention to focus on treatment following a DUI arrest in Florida. He was charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, with reports stating that breath tests at the scene showed no alcohol in his system.
Following the incident, he was allowed to travel overseas for inpatient treatment and has reportedly been staying in Switzerland during the time.
