Tinubu and I are not on good terms – Governor Bala Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has revealed the reasons behind his strained relationship with President Bola Tinubu, accusing the president of implementing policies harmful to Nigeria’s progress and well-being

During a courtesy visit to Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, a key promoter of the Muslim-Muslim Ticket, Governor Mohammed described Tinubu as a leader who ignores the people’s voices. He expressed frustration over the hardship caused by the president’s policies, particularly in the northern region.

“Tinubu and I are not on good terms because his policies are causing hardship for the citizens,” the governor said, pointing to the impact of recent federal tax reforms on the economically vulnerable North. He noted that many northern states depend on federal allocations and warned that the proposed reforms would deepen the region’s economic challenges.

“The North heavily relies on federal allocation to survive. The reforms he is proposing will put the region under dire strain,” he added.

Governor Mohammed urged Sheikh Jingir to use his influence to appeal to the president to reconsider the policies. “Thank God you are alive today to use your wise words of wisdom. We politicians tend to use harsh words, but I believe you can inspire the change we need,” he said.

The governor called for a more inclusive governance approach that prioritizes the needs of all Nigerians, especially the economically disadvantaged regions.
