President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Abuja for Kano on a condolence visit to the family of late elder statesman and renowned industrialist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata

The President left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Friday afternoon, accompanied by senior government officials and aides. The visit is in honour of the late business icon, who passed away in Abu Dhabi on June 28, 2025, and was laid to rest in Madina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1.
Although Tinubu was abroad at the time of the burial, he had sent a ministerial delegation to represent him. Friday’s visit, however, serves as a personal tribute to Dantata, who was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most respected philanthropists and financial giants.
Upon arrival in Kano, the President is expected to visit the Dantata family compound in the Koki area of the city to offer prayers and condolences. He is also scheduled to meet with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, traditional leaders, and other key stakeholders.
In a statement issued ahead of the visit, Governor Yusuf called on residents to receive the President peacefully and respectfully, highlighting Kano’s reputation for hospitality.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened across major areas of the state capital, with traffic restrictions imposed at strategic locations.
