President Bola Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power, pending confirmation by the Senate
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the nomination is aimed at strengthening ongoing reforms in the power sector, improving electricity grid stability, and attracting sustainable investment into the industry.
The President has already forwarded Tegbe’s name to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
The development follows the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of future elections.
Tegbe, who hails from Oyo State, is a fiscal and economic reform specialist with more than 30 years of experience spanning both public service and the private sector.
He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led projects focused on fiscal policy reform, governance, and institutional restructuring.
He is currently the Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, where he coordinates bilateral development initiatives between Nigeria and China.
