According to a statement on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, the BNC meeting is scheduled for December 3, following a ministerial meeting on December 2 at the South African Parliament in Cape Town.

This year’s session marks the 25th anniversary of the commission, highlighting the enduring partnership between Nigeria and South Africa.

“President Tinubu and President Ramaphosa will engage in extensive discussions on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest,” the statement noted.

Building on commitments from their June 20, 2024, meeting in Johannesburg, the leaders will assess progress since the 10th BNC session held in Abuja from November 29 to December 1, 2021.

The 11th session will include deliberations across eight working groups covering areas such as political consultations, consular and migration matters, banking and finance, defense and security, manufacturing, social sector development, mines and energy, and trade and investment.

Established in 1999, the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission has served as a platform for fostering high-level dialogue and cooperation in key sectors, including diplomacy, trade, and security. The inaugural Heads of State-level session took place in October 2019 in Pretoria.
