Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, the reigning world indoor champion and one of Amusan’s fiercest rivals, finished second in 12.69s, while Italy’s Elena Carraro came third in 12.86s to also qualify.

Amusan, the world record holder with her historic 12.12s run in 2022, is determined to reclaim the world title she lost last year. Her smooth progression to the semis keeps Nigeria’s medal hopes alive.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Kanyinsola Ajayi and Israel Okon will compete in the men’s 100m semifinals later today as the nation continues its hunt for medals in Tokyo.
