The Uefa Champions league semi final is certainly turning the heat up. Manchester City held Real Madrid to a goaless draw at the Etihad stadium yesterday.
Atletico Madrid is set to host Bayern Munich today in Spain by 7:45pm Nigerian time. Atlético Madrid and Bayern Munich’s only previous competitive encounter was in the 1974 European Cup final. The Bavarians were victorious 4-0 in a replay after the teams played out a 1-1 draw (after extra-time) in the initial final.
Atlético Madrid have always progressed in their last six home/away knockout encounters with German sides in European competition. Dynamo Dresden were the last German team to eliminate them, back in the 1979/80 UEFA Cup first round.
Atlético Madrid have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League/European Cup for the fifth time. Meanwhile, its Bayerns 18th appearance in the final four of the competition, only Real Madrid can boast more (27).
Bayern Munich, the top attacking side in this Champions League campaign (28 goals), have scored exactly twice as many goals as Atlético (14) in the 2015/16 edition. We hope to see how both teams will perform today.
