Elon Musk’s X faces the possibility of being banned in the UK over concerns about illegal AI-generated images on the platform
The controversy surrounds X’s AI tool, Grok, which has reportedly been used to create images of women and children in undressed and sexualised poses.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer revealed that he had asked media regulator Ofcom to consider “all options” after it emerged that child sexual abuse images had been generated using Grok. Users continue to produce thousands of such images, including children and women in bikinis and sexualised scenarios.
The Telegraph reports that a UK internet watchdog recently discovered images created with Grok that were shared on a dark web forum, constituting illegal child sexual abuse material.
Addressing the issue, Starmer described the situation as “disgraceful” and “disgusting,” adding, “It’s not to be tolerated… Ofcom has our full support to take action in relation to this.”
He further emphasised, “It’s unlawful. We’re not going to tolerate it. I’ve asked for all options to be on the table,” in an interview with Greatest Hits Radio.
Under the Online Safety Act, Ofcom has the authority to ask the High Court to effectively block companies that allow unlawful content on their platforms.
