Social commentator VeryDarkMan has called for greater attention to the challenges facing Northern Nigeria, urging Nigerians to unite and encourage political leaders to address the region’s longstanding developmental issues.
Speaking on the state of the North, he said that many communities have been deprived of opportunities and basic amenities due to poor leadership and selfish political interests.
He wrote:
“If you love this country, you will come together. Let us urge the political class to fix the North. They have destroyed and taken everything away from those people because of their selfish interests. The Arewa people deserve to enjoy the wealth of this great nation. They lack basic amenities, they lack a good start to the future. The North needs to wake up for Nigeria to wake up. They have the population, they have the manpower. Painfully, they have bad leaders who believe that the North has to be in a cage for them to keep control of Nigeria. Wake up Nigerians. Arewa, Hausa, Northern Nigeria needs our support.”
VeryDarkMan also praised the character and resilience of many people from the region, while expressing sadness over the level of poverty he has witnessed during his visits to northern states.
“The most honest people in Nigeria are the northerners. Hardworking people are the northerners. People that are ready to serve and learn are the northerners. It is just so sad that their leaders don’t want them to live a better life. I see those kids with the rubber plates begging for food and money and I cry. You people will not understand because you probably haven’t visited northern states. When you do, you would understand how evil their leaders are,” he stated.
