Nigerian actress Annie Macaulay has spoken out after receiving criticism for congratulating celebrity stylist Luminee following the birth of her child.
The actress explained that she was unaware of the controversy surrounding Luminee’s relationship and said her congratulatory gesture was simply based on their previous professional interaction.
According to Annie, Luminee had made a dress for her a few months ago, and upon seeing a post announcing the birth of her baby, she left a heart emoji as a congratulatory gesture.
However, the reaction that followed caught her by surprise, prompting her to publicly seek clarification from those criticizing her.
In a statement, Annie wrote:
“what’s going on guys… saw her post on my TL about just having a baby n dropped a heart as congrats! I’m I missing something? What did I do wrong ? Cos I’m genuinely lost o … why d plenty insults guys ? I honestly do not know anything at all about her personal life ,beyond d fact that she made d pretty dress I wore to affirma 😔 Pls can someone enlighten me ? Cos I truly do not know or have any idea what’s up!”
She further explained her limited connection to the stylist, saying:
“the lady made a nice dress for me few months ago, I honestly do not know what’s going on.”
The backlash stems from public criticism directed at Luminee after she welcomed a child with a Yoruba actor popularly known as baba ijesha who had previously been convicted as a s£.x offender.
The development has sparked disappointment among some members of the public, with critics questioning the stylist’s decision to have a child with the actor.
Annie, however, maintained that she was unaware of the details surrounding Luminee’s personal life and said her comment was intended only as a gesture of goodwill toward someone she knew professionally.
Her statement appears to be an attempt to clarify her position and explain that she had no knowledge of the circumstances that led to the public outrage.
