Peter Obi has explained why he was absent at the burial of former President, Muhammadu Buhari, which took place on Tuesday in Daura, Katsina State

Obi’s absence drew criticism from some quarters, as several high-profile figures attended the ceremony. However, the former Anambra State governor clarified that logistics prevented him from arriving on time.
Speaking to Arise TV, Obi said:
“It was difficult to come yesterday (Tuesday) because there was no flight. Even if there was a flight, you couldn’t land in Katsina Airport. It was all closed, because there were a lot of dignitaries.”
Despite the delay, Obi arrived in Daura on Wednesday to personally condole with Buhari’s family.
“Mourning continues until tomorrow. So, whoever comes today and tomorrow is still part of the mourning,” he added.
Obi’s visit came a day after the late president was buried according to Islamic rites, with full military honours marking the end of his public life.
