Fresh details have emerged on the detention of eleven Nigerian Air Force officers in Burkina Faso, with one of the personnel explaining that their aircraft was compelled to touch down in the country after developing a mechanical problem
The explanation was given during an engagement with a Nigerian government delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar.

The officer said the aircraft encountered a fault while flying to Portugal, making an unscheduled landing unavoidable. He noted that the technical issue has since been resolved, clearing the aircraft for further operations.
At the meeting, Tuggar delivered a personal message from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the affected NAF officers, reassuring them of the government’s concern and support.
The minister also disclosed that Burkina Faso’s military leader, Ibrahim Traoré, had expressed readiness to assist Nigeria with technical support if it becomes necessary.
