The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied having any involvement in the ongoing screening of governorship aspirants by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State

Speaking on Monday while inspecting projects across Abuja, Wike stated clearly that he is not a member of the APC and therefore has no business commenting on the party’s internal activities or decisions.

“I’m not a member of the APC, so I don’t know what is happening in their screening.

“Even if they publish the results, why would I comment? I don’t know the reasons they have,” he said.

The former Rivers State governor stressed that he would not pretend to know details about matters that do not concern him politically.

“What pertains to me is what I will talk about, not what does not concern me. I’m not a native doctor, neither am I a prophet,” Wike added.

His comments come shortly after Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara appeared before the APC screening committee in Abuja and reportedly left the venue without addressing journalists.

Fubara was absent during Saturday’s scheduled screening for governors seeking re-election and second-term governors contesting for senatorial seats. However, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda explained that governors occupied with official state assignments were permitted to appear before the panel on Sunday instead.
