The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has officially renamed the Abuja International Conference Centre as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre

Wike made the announcement on Tuesday during the inauguration ceremony of the newly refurbished centre in Abuja. He revealed that several halls within the complex had also been renamed in honor of key figures in Nigeria’s government.
According to Wike, individual halls have been named after Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Chief Justice of Nigeria Olukayode Ariwoola.
“These are the three arms of government—executive, legislature, and judiciary—working together. It is only fitting that we recognize their contributions to the FCT,” Wike said.
He explained that the facility, originally built in 1991 during a military regime, had suffered neglect until President Tinubu’s administration facilitated its renovation.

“Since 1991, this place had not seen any significant upgrade. But under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, in just eight months, we’ve transformed it,” he added.
The minister emphasized that the renaming was a tribute to the President’s commitment to national infrastructure and development.
Wike also announced a new policy for the use of the centre: going forward, ministries, agencies, and individuals will be required to pay to use the facility.
“This is a state-of-the-art complex. To maintain it, there will be no more free use—whether for weddings or official functions. Everyone must contribute to its upkeep,” he said.
