Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has addressed the arrest of Adura Aloba, the younger brother of the late singer Mohbad, dismissing allegations that he played a role in his abduction
A viral video captured Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Olumiyi, at the Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, accusing Fabiyi of orchestrating Adura’s arrest. She claimed that unidentified men, believed to be police officers, took her son away and pleaded with Nigerians to help secure his release. She insisted that Adura was innocent of the allegations Fabiyi made against him.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his foundation, ‘Break The Silence,’ Fabiyi refuted the claims, calling them defamatory and misleading. He stated that they were an attempt to obstruct police investigations and derail the pursuit of justice.
According to Fabiyi, Adura and two others—Damola Ayinde Habeeb and Damilare Koleosho—were persons of interest in an ongoing homicide investigation led by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG Zone 2). He claimed that they had been invited three times for questioning but refused to comply.
“The police obtained a court-issued arrest warrant before apprehending Adura,” Fabiyi stated. “The officers waited outside the court and arrested him professionally without entering the court premises. Adura initially used the court as a shield for hours before surrendering. His mother and lawyer were informed of his destination and allowed to follow the police vehicle.”
Fabiyi urged the public to disregard Mohbad’s mother’s accusations, adding that his legal team would take legal action against her.
