Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has opened up about one of the advantages of marrying an older man, offering a glimpse into her enduring marriage to film legend Olu Jacobs.
During a recent appearance on TVC’s Your View, the 64-year-old actress reflected on her decades-long relationship, which began when she married Jacobs in 1985 despite a 20-year age difference.

Recalling how their romance started, Silva admitted it wasn’t love at first sight for her. “Yes, we met on stage, and when we met on a movie set, everybody knew it was the great Olu Jacobs who was coming, except me. When he came, we got on very well, and it was after we started dating that I discovered his age because he looked so good. For him, it was love at first sight, but for me, it wasn’t. These older men allow you to get away with a lot of things,” she said.
Jacobs was 44 when he married the then 24-year-old Silva. Nearly four decades later, their marriage has produced two children and remains one of Nollywood’s most celebrated love stories.
