Chadese authorities have arrested Muslim Mohammed Yusuf, the youngest son of Boko Haram’s late founder, along with five other suspected jihadists, according to an intelligence source and a former insurgent
The Islamist group, founded by radical preacher Mohammed Yusuf, has terrorized the Lake Chad region for around 15 years, with recent attacks on villages and military bases becoming increasingly audacious.

Chadian police confirmed the detention of six Boko Haram members but did not confirm if one was the son of the founder.
A Nigerian intelligence source in the Lake Chad area told AFP that the six-man jihadist cell in Chad was led by Muslim Yusuf.
“The team was headed by Muslim, the youngest son of the late Boko Haram founder,” the source said, noting that the cell actually belonged to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a Boko Haram offshoot.
Yusuf, 18, was an infant when his father was k!lled during a 2009 military crackdown that left around 800 people d6ad. He is also the younger brother of ISWAP leader Habib Yusuf, alias Abu Mus’ab Al-Barnawi, and reportedly uses the alias Abdrahman Mahamat Abdoulaye.
