Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso has disclosed that he is open to leaving his current political platform ahead of the 2027 general election, but only if such a move guarantees him a Vice presidential or Presidential ticket
The former Kano State governor made this known on Saturday while receiving supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) at his residence in Kano. According to him, discussions are already underway at the national level about forming or joining an opposition alliance.

“At the national level, talks are ongoing to join an opposition coalition. We told them that we agree to go with you, but what will you give me. Appointments? How many? Which one among them will fit me, which I will accept?,” he said.
Kwankwaso stressed that his position on the matter is non-negotiable, adding, “I have made it categorically clear that I will only join a coalition that considers me as either the presidential or vice-presidential candidate.”
He further explained that his political base across the country would not support any defection unless it clearly secures him either the presidential or vice-presidential slot in the next election.
The former governor also revealed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had approached him in the past, but he turned down the move because the party failed to put forward what he described as “a concrete offer” that would be beneficial to both him and his supporters.
