Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has claimed his life is in danger after allegedly being branded a Boko Haram figure during a high-level security discussion
Gumi said the warning was discreetly passed to him by individuals he described as security contacts. He made the allegation while speaking to worshippers in a video that has since spread across social media platforms.
According to the cleric, he received an early morning phone call from Abuja in which he was told his name had come up at a national security meeting, with grave consequences attached.
“They called me from Abuja and told me there was a security meeting. They said I have been marked, that I will be eliminated. And who are Boko Haram?”
Gumi went further to challenge prevailing narratives around terrorism, arguing that extremist groups are often products of broader global power struggles rather than isolated local actors.
“Even Americans said they came to fight terrorists, so who are the terrorists? They are the ones.”
