People don’t really love you until you start growing beyond their expectations. That hit me hard reading about Nollywood actress Sarah Martins and her experience with social media influencer King Mitchy.
She shared how someone who once applauded her work suddenly blocked her after Seyi Tinubu and his friends supported her NGO during the Kai incident
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Sarah recalled the moment she realized Mitchy had blocked her. She described her shock, especially since the influencer had praised her work just weeks earlier.
“Yes, King Mitchy blocked me everywhere immediately. Seyi Tinubu. extended his philanthropic support to my NGO during the Kai incident. I was shocked because she followed me on IG a few weeks before that incident and applauded my efforts in my comment section. I followed her back and also commended her for the good things she was doing,” she wrote.
Sarah shared how the situation escalated after a tragic incident while cooking for charity, when hot oil spilled on her hands. Seyi Tinubu and his friends supported her with N20 million to continue her charitable work, but Mitchy’s reaction was to block her.
“Fast forward to when Kai operatives spilt hot oil on my hands right where I was cooking for charity, S.T and friends empowered me with 20m to get a conducive place to continue my cooking for the less privileged, just like he would have done for anyone else, and immediately Mitchy blocked me everywhere till today. I’m not the type to hold grudges, so I made excuses for that unruly act of hers and let it slide.”
The actress also recounted an awkward encounter at Toyin Abraham’s movie premiere:
“During @toyin_abraham’s over-sabi aunty movie premiere, I met Mitchy at the event and said hello to her. She looked me from head to toe, eyed me, and walked away. I felt extremely embarrassed, but I kept my cool and still made excuses for her behaviour in order for me not to have reasons to hate her back.”
Despite the tension, Sarah emphasized that she does not see King Mitchy as a rival:
“Today I see people saying I’m desperate to take over from Mitchy how? My niche is different from hers. I believe in collaboration over competition, which is why I never took any of her unruly behaviour to heart. Mitchy has hurt Nigerians in recent times with her behaviour, but it’s not enough reason to write her off. Pls let’s not forget all the many smiles she brought to our faces through her philanthropic works.”
She concluded her post with a call for forgiveness and understanding:
“To err is human and to forgive is divine. I’ve forgiven her, and I’m pleading with all Nigerians, including @verydarkblackman and @jojooflele, to forgive and let go.
Depr.ssion is a very destructive thing, and she’s not only mentally down at the moment but also emotionally unstable, and these are signs of depression.
I’m begging on her behalf, pls cease fire. Person no dey bad finish. Peace and light always.”
