For Toke Makinwa, this year’s International Women’s Day carried a deeper meaning than usual.

The media personality had more than one reason to celebrate it also marked a small but special milestone for her baby girl, who just turned seven months old.

Sharing her thoughts on the moment, Makinwa described the experience as both emotional and empowering.

Becoming a mother to a daughter, she said, has reshaped how she views responsibility, purpose, and the future.
“A woman raising a Queen. It is my duty to hand her a crown,” she wrote.

For Makinwa, motherhood is more than nurturing a child it is a mission.

She explained that raising a girl comes with the powerful responsibility of preparing her to navigate the world with confidence and self-worth.

“My first International Women’s Day as a girl mom is especially touching, cos not only is motherhood a call to service, but it’s also a humbling ride with a girl child,” she said.

The media figure added that the journey pushes her to think about the kind of world her daughter will grow up in and the role she must play in shaping it.

“I must strive to make the world a safer place for her. I must do my best to remind her daily that she is the prize.”

Ending her message on a joyful note, she celebrated her little one’s growth milestone with pride.
“Happy IWD @yakira_eliana
P.s
Look who is 7 months old now.”

For Toke, the day served as both a celebration of womanhood and a personal reminder of the legacy she hopes to build for the next generation.
