Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of politically motivated actions following the raid of his properties
It is reported that EFCC operatives on Monday marked an Abuja residence linked to Malami, acting on an interim forfeiture order issued by a court.

In a brief video, Malami was seen questioning the operatives on the legality of their actions and demanding to see the court order authorizing the marking of his property.
Speaking to reporters, Malami described the EFCC operation as “intimidating and unnecessary,” claiming that fully armed personnel harassed his immediate family under the guise of serving letters of invitation. He said similar notices were delivered at other houses and business premises he owns.
He expressed surprise over how the court’s prior order was executed, noting that an injunction had been granted on January 6, 2026, concerning the management of his assets.
“To my knowledge, there was indeed a court order for entry into my properties, but I was given 14 days to respond. We have complied, joined issues before the court, and filed an application to have the order set aside,” Malami said.
The African Democratic Congress chieftain maintained that the raid and related legal actions were politically driven.
“The insinuations surrounding this unfolding drama honestly point to clear political motivation. Many people have shown solidarity, given the context of my detention for over 99 days—far beyond the constitutionally allowed 48 hours for those charged to court—which appears arbitrary and politically intimidating,” he added.
