Nollywood actress Funmilayo Omikunle has shared an honest and deeply personal reflection on her life journey touching on marriage, hard work, and the sacrifices she’s made along the way
Speaking candidly, she emphasized her strong work ethic and love for financial independence.
According to her, “I love to work and make money and it doesn’t affect my marriage. I was selling kerosene in seven places, ask anybody in Oworonshoki.”
Her drive didn’t stop there. She revealed that she once made a huge sacrifice for her child’s future, saying, “I sold my house to send my child abroad, I like good things in my life.”
On the topic of marriage, the actress shared a perspective shaped by her upbringing. She explained that her mother believed strongly in staying committed, noting, “My mother never believed a woman should leave her husband’s house.”
However, she also acknowledged that no relationship is perfect. In her words, “Marriage cannot be 100% pure, it will have its own ‘but’… except violence is involved.” She added a caution about infidelity: “If you keep cheating on your partner, when it gets to a level you won’t be able to do anything again.”
Reflecting on her career and family life, Omikunle shared that she has been consistent in her craft for years, saying, “I have been putting movies on YouTube since 2008.”
She also spoke proudly about her roots, revealing, “My mother that’s close to 100 years old is still in my father’s house.”
Despite facing the loss of her husband at a young age, she continued to push forward and achieve remarkable milestones early in life.
“I was young when my husband died and I bought my car when I was 24 years old and I built my first house at 28 years old,” she said.
