Former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
In a letter addressed to the party chairman of Ward 7 in Ondo West Local Government Area, and sighted on Thursday, Mimiko confirmed that his resignation took effect from April 10, 2026.

“I am tendering my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, effective from April 10, 2026,” he stated.
The former governor, who led Ondo State between 2009 and 2016, explained that his decision became necessary due to ongoing speculations regarding his political affiliation.
“Speculations and inquiries about my membership status have made it necessary for me to clarify my position.”
He added that he had been largely inactive in party activities, making it important to formally declare his exit from the party.
“As I have been somewhat distanced from party activities, I wish to put it on record that I am no longer a member of the PDP.”
Mimiko also noted that his resignation was not driven by any personal grievances or hostility, stressing that the decision was taken without animosity toward anyone involved.
