Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has expressed anger and concern over the kidnapping of passengers, including candidates of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in Otukpo
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor condemned the attack, describing it as a cruel act carried out by criminal elements.
He said the abduction of innocent citizens, particularly students en route to write examinations, was unacceptable and a direct attack on public peace and basic human values.

Governor Alia assured residents and families of the victims that security agencies have been fully mobilised to secure their release.
“Tactical teams have been fully mobilised, and coordinated search-and-rescue operations are also ongoing to ensure the safe return of all abducted persons,” he said.
He also reaffirmed his directive to security operatives to intensify operations against criminal groups and terrorist hideouts across the state.
According to him, he is in constant communication with security commanders and has instructed them to ensure the victims are rescued safely and swiftly.
“We understand the anxiety and pain this incident has caused, particularly to parents whose children were among those abducted.
“We stand with you at this difficult time and assure you that everything humanly and operationally possible will be done to secure their safe release,” he added.
