BNXN has fired back at American rapper Fat Joe after comments made about his former stage name “Buju” during a recent conversation involving reggae icon Buju Banton
Fat Joe had claimed during a podcast appearance that pressure from him and others in the industry contributed to the Nigerian singer dropping the name “Buju,” insisting there was confusion and disrespect around the name in relation to Buju Banton.
Reacting on X, BNXN did not hold back as he criticised Fat Joe, accusing him of spreading misinformation about African music and artists.
He wrote:
“The hate in the your heart and your misinformation about African music and its artists is why your chromosomes are all fucked up. Educate yourself bozo. @fatjoe”
BNXN, who originally rose to fame as Buju before rebranding to BNXN (pronounced Benson), has previously explained that the name change was influenced by branding and identity concerns as his career expanded internationally.
