Media personality Nedu Wazobia has weighed in on the growing controversy surrounding comments made by the Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint, Tosin Eniolorunda, over the state of Nigeria’s workforce and education system
The debate began after Eniolorunda revealed that his company had struggled to fill more than 500 job vacancies since 2024, stating that many applicants failed to meet international standards.
His comments sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians criticizing the remarks as unfair and disrespectful to local talent, while others agreed that there is a growing skills gap in the country.
Reacting to the backlash, Nedu defended the Moniepoint CEO, insisting that many people misunderstood the message behind the statement.
“Moniepoint CEO made a clarion call to save our education and value system. But like we always do. We see only what we want to see not what is in front of us,” he said.
According to Nedu, the issue raised by the fintech executive goes beyond recruitment struggles and points to deeper concerns about the direction of education, personal values, and professional preparedness among young Nigerians.
