Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has released the eighth part of his ongoing video series, revealing one of the most emotional moments of his life as he recalled the events surrounding the pregnancy of his wife, Lola Omotayo.
Peter broke down in tears, alleged that his brothers did not welcome the news that he was expecting his first child and even tried to convince him to end the pregnancy.
According to Peter, he was 27 years old when Lola became pregnant. Rather than allowing someone else to break the news, he said he decided to announce it himself during an award acceptance speech at the Soundcity Awards.
Recalling the moment, he said:
“When I was 27 years old, my girlfriend then, Lola, became pregnant.
“I didn’t want the news to break from someone else, so I decided to announce it myself.
We attended the Soundcity Awards, and after receiving the award, I dedicated it to God Almighty, our fans, and everyone who had supported us.
“Lastly, I dedicated it to the mother of my unborn child. Immediately after that, Jude and Paul walked out, saying my announcement would ruin our career.
They insisted that Lola should abo.rt the baby. They even forged an email to frame her, claiming the child wasn’t mine and accusing her of using the pregnancy to trap me.”
Peter became emotional while recounting the experience, saying the incident remains one of the most painful periods of his life.
He alleged that beyond opposing the pregnancy, attempts were made to cast doubt on the paternity of his son by portraying Lola as someone with ulterior motives.
The singer said the experience left a lasting impact on him, especially because it involved people he considered family. Despite everything that happened, he said he stood by Lola and chose to move forward with the relationship.
The latest video forms part of Peter’s ongoing series in which he has been recounting his version of the events that led to the breakdown of his relationship with his twin brother, Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, and their elder brother, Jude Okoye.
