Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has recounted a prophecy he received before his arrest and imprisonment.
The actor spoke about the prophecy during a gathering at Sunday Igboho’s residence on October 10, 2026, to celebrate the Yoruba activist’s birthday.
Baba Ijesha said someone had predicted that he would become a great man but would first go through a painful experience that would leave him in tears.
In his words:
“Before I went to prison, someone saw a revelation about me that I’ll be a great man, but a huge calamity will befall me that’ll make me shed lots of tears before the prophecy will eventually come to pass. It was after that I went to prison.”
Baba Ijesha was arrested in April 2021 after allegations of se.xually ass.aulting a m!nor. In July 2022, a Lagos State High Court sentenced him to eight years in prison for se.xual ass.ault and indecent treatment of a child, with the sentences to run concurrently.
In June 2024, the Court of Appeal overturned some of his convictions but upheld the convictions relating to offences committed in 2021.
He was released in November 2025 after completing his sentence.
