Abia State Government has sealed the building where about 100 bags of human faeces were discovered
The builiding sealed is No. 16 Ibadan Street, Aba, Abia State.
It was sealed on Tuesday by officials of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA, Aba Zone.

The bags of faeces, according to an official statement by ASEPA, were stored within the compound of a public house, posing a clear risk of an epidemic outbreak.
Also, four basins containing human excreta were discovered in the corridor of the house by the ASEPA officials.
In a swift response, the Abia State government agency sealed the building in order to carry out a thorough investigation into the sordid discovery.
The statement from ASEPA read in part: “Even more disturbing, a sewage tank was discovered inside one of the downstairs rooms, directly beneath a bed where occupants sleep daily, despite being aware of the situation.
“This is not merely an environmental violation; it is a serious public health concern capable of triggering an epidemic if left unchecked.
“In a decisive move to prevent a possible outbreak and protect public health, the premises have been sealed today, 18th August 2026, pursuant to a court order, pending the necessary corrective measures.
“The premises will be unsealed once the appropriate requirements have been met,” ASEPA said.
The motive behind the storage of the excreta had not yet been established, but some residents who commented on ASEPA’s social media platform claimed that the bags of faeces were allegedly sold to farmers for N10,000 per bag to be used as manure.
