Nollywood filmmaker, Ugezu J. Ugezu, has defended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Akpabio, strongly criticizing Akpabio’s decision to appeal a court ruling that ordered Natasha’s reinstatement

In a sharp social media post, Ugezu condemned the Senate President’s actions, emphasizing that both he and Natasha were elected through the same democratic process and have equal mandates to represent their constituents.
“The same way SHE got elected to represent her people… was the way YOU got elected to represent YOUR people. Now you suspended her.”
He noted that a competent court had declared Natasha’s suspension unlawful and ordered her immediate reinstatement. However, rather than comply, Akpabio is challenging the verdict in court — a move Ugezu finds troubling.
“A competent court ruled that you have no right to suspend an elected senator indefinitely… and ordered her reinstatement. AND YOU ARE APPEALING THE JUDGMENT?”
Calling for a shift in focus, Ugezu urged Akpabio to abandon distractions and fulfill his legislative responsibilities.
“Senate President sir, can you shun frivolities and face your real-time parliamentary duties?”

Ugezu’s remarks echo widespread concerns over the Senate’s decision to suspend Natasha and the broader implications it has for democratic accountability and the independence of lawmakers.
