The six-time African Women’s Player of the Year made the announcement via Facebook on Monday night, revealing that the time had come for her to step aside and make room for the next generation.

“At 30, with six African Women’s Best Player awards, I will bow out to start a new chapter after WAFCON 2024/25,” she wrote.

Oshoala thanked fans for their years of unwavering support, adding, “I’m forever grateful for the love and sacrifices shared with me throughout this journey.”

The former Barcelona Femeni star retires as the most decorated female footballer in African history, with CAF Player of the Year awards in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2023. Her extraordinary career has inspired a generation of young players and helped elevate women’s football on the continent.
