Continuous Delay Of Claims By Ark Insurance Brokers; A Slap On The Insurance System In Nigeria

Ark Insurance Brokers is not a stranger or a new comer as
far as insurance is concerned in Nigeria, hence it is expected that such
company would be more concerned with upholding its trade name and mantra rather
than pulling it down.

However, it is disheartening that this group of company has
failed to ensure that the consumer continues to trust and rely on their
policies as advised in their visions and missions.

On Saturday December 19, an accident involving a truck
belonging to the Insurance company and a Nissan Jeep driven by a Nigerian artiste
Mr. Seun Bankole occurred along Osborne road in Ikoyi Lagos.

Thankfully, no life was lost, but the Nissan jeep was
damaged beyond repair. According to witnesses, the driver of the said truck
appeared to be unstable and liquor allegedly oozed from him when he tumbled out
of his barely scratched truck.

The intervention of the Lagos state Governor Akinwumi Ambode
who incidentally was plying the route at the time of the accident averted more
danger as the truck driver would have been mobbed for his insensitive act of
not just handling a machine in a drunken condition but also driving at a killer
speed on the busy road.

All was laid to rest when the management of the Insurance
company pledged that they would take care of the damaged car immediately and if
need be, replace it.

The MD. Mr Kayode Awogboro was dully notified and all
important documents were provided including a report from Nissan automobiles
that confirmed that the car was damaged beyond repair.

Till date, The Ark Insurance has not redeemed its pledge.

Simply put, Ark Insurance has broken its promise of looking
into the issue with urgency and doing what should be done.

Nothing has been done, there is no yellow light talk more of
the green light. Nothing worthy of waiting upon has been concluded by the
company and this is not right if insurance must survive in the country.

Ark group has no consideration for the plight of the victim
Mr. Seun Bankole who has had to bear the brunt of the ill fated accident till
date, needless to say, many meetings have been evaded deliberately by the
management of the company.

The question is; if The Ark Insurance Brokers finds it
difficult to honor this simple deal, what then does it mission statements say
of this company?

If every claim has to go through lawyers and the media, can
we really put our life and properties in their hands?

The Ark Group has pledged to guide properties and ‘save
lives’… yet this act of deprivation speaks otherwise.

But this is a claim they must pay and fast too…

The victim’s show business cannot continue to suffer because
of an accident caused by the recklessness of the staff of Ark Insurance, and
the many delays and truancy of the management despite the third insurance
policy that covers a large percentage of the damaged car.
