Lagos-based doctor Femi Olaleye, previously convicted of defiling his wife’s 16-year-old niece, has been discharged and acquitted by the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal

Olaleye was arraigned in 2022 at the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja, Lagos, and in October 2023, was found guilty of defilement and sexual assault by penetration. However, his conviction was challenged by his lawyer, Kemi Pinhero (SAN), who argued that the prosecution failed to provide direct evidence confirming the alleged victim’s age.
In a judgment delivered on November 29, 2024, the appellate court ruled that the prosecution did not establish the victim’s age with adequate documentation. Consequently, Olaleye was discharged and acquitted.
Following his release from prison on December 3, Olaleye took to Instagram, sharing photos and writing, “Freedom is not just a release-it is a rebirth. And on Tuesday, 03/12/24 my new chapter began! @drfemi is back and active!”
