Emily Atack, the 34-year-old British actress and TV personality known for ‘The Inbetweeners’, has candidly shared her experiences with consent and reflected on past encounters she now sees as crossing boundaries.
Speaking on Jamie Laing’s ‘Great Company‘ podcast, she discussed “uncomfortable” situations where alcohol impaired her memory and control, calling attention to times she now views as non-consensual.
Emily explained she’s leading an “affirmative consent” campaign that aims to require both parties to explicitly confirm their willingness before engaging in sex.

Reflecting on her own past, she revealed that she could count the times she enjoyed sex on one hand, recalling times she woke up unsure of what had happened and felt pressured to dismiss those experiences as “normal.”
“There were no barriers,” she said of her teenage years, adding, “I went through life thinking if you wake up after a night out and something has happened but you don’t really remember it, you just have to suck it up.”
Emily expressed frustration that women have been conditioned to “repress” such feelings, while men often face little accountability in cases involving alcohol.
When asked about feeling shame, she admitted, “We were taught for such a long time that this was a normal way to have sex.”
However, she noted that open conversations are helping many people realize past experiences they would now consider violations.
