Diego Forlan, the retired Manchester United and Atletico Madrid striker, had a challenging debut in professional tennis on Thursday.
Despite retiring from football in 2019, the 45-year-old has stayed active and recently decided to pursue tennis at a professional level.

Forlan competed in the ITF Masters Tour last year and was granted a wild card to play in the ATP Challenger Tour’s Uruguay Open in Montevideo, his home region.
Supported by local fans, he teamed up with Argentine tennis player Federico Coria for a doubles match.

However, Forlan’s first professional tennis appearance did not go as hoped.
He and Coria faced Bolivia’s Boris Arias and Federico Zeballos, who swiftly defeated them in just 47 minutes.

The duo managed to win only three games, resulting in a 6-1, 6-2 loss and a tough start to Forlan’s pro tennis journey.
