Firefighters in New Jersey rescued an 11-month-old yellow Labrador after it got its head stuck in a spare tyre. Despite initial attempts with oil and soap, rescuers used a power tool to free the trapped dog.
Firefighters from the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company rescued a yellow Labrador named Daisy who had gotten her head stuck in a spare tire at a home in Franklin Township. The firefighters arrived and quickly came up with a plan to rescue Daisy while keeping her calm.
The team tried soapy water and vegetable oil to free Daisy, but it didn’t work. They tried wrapping plastic around her neck to help her escape, but that didn’t work either. Lt. Brandon Volpe remembered he had plasma cutters at his home and the team took Daisy to his garage on a red wagon, covering her head and neck with a fire blanket for safety.
Using the plasma cutter, the team freed Daisy within minutes. Despite her initial panic, the firefighters kept Daisy safe throughout the rescue. Daisy’s owners were grateful for the rescue, and the firefighters were happy to help.
