FUPRE student sta-bbed to de.ath during fight with sibling

A 100-Level student of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, was allegedly sta-bbed to de.ath on Tuesday evening during a fight with his brother behind Hostel C of the institution

The student, whose identity had not been disclosed by the university as of press time, was reportedly sta-bbed multiple times in the bushes behind the hostel following an altercation with the suspect.

Sources said the victim managed to crawl from the scene to a nearby walkway, where he collapsed in a pool of blood.

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect had been arrested.

Edafe said further details would be provided after obtaining updates from the relevant police units investigating the case.
An official in charge of Hostel C declined to comment on the incident, saying the university management was handling the matter.

“The university management is handling the matter. I can’t say anything for now,” the official said.

A union official in the university, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the two students, who are children of the same father, had initially fought inside their hostel room before the altercation resumed outside.

According to the source, a roommate separated them during the first fight, but both students later moved to the bushes behind the hostel, where the confrontation continued.

“One was fatally sta-bbed and he managed to climb to the walkway where some students fetching water saw him and brought him to the Medical Centre, but it was too late,” the source said.

The official added that the porter on duty was compiling a detailed report of the incident to assist the university management in determining its next course of action.

FUPRE had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of press time.
