Hunger protest: Youths return to the streets despite curfew in Jigawa state

In Jigawa state, hundreds of youths have taken to the streets in parts of Dutse, the capital, despite a 24-hour curfew imposed by the government

The curfew was declared after widespread violence and destruction on the first day of the nationwide protests.

According to Daily Trust, security agencies are currently battling protesters in the Zai area, where operatives are struggling to prevent roadblocks.

According to a resident, the youths are resisting teargas and refusing to retreat.

In Shuwarin, an outskirt of Dutse, protesters are attempting to enter the main city but are being restricted by security operatives.

An eyewitness reported that tens of youths, including underaged boys, have been arrested by the police.

In Gumel town, the situation is relatively calm, with security operatives blocking major roads to prevent regrouping.

Efforts to gather updates from other areas, including Hadeji, Birnin Kudu, Jahun, and Kazaure, were unsuccessful due to poor communication networks.

The situation in Jigawa state remains tense, with youths continuing to defy the curfew and security agencies working to maintain control.
