Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections
Kwankwaso completed his registration on Monday at Kwankwasiyya House in Kano, where he was formally welcomed into the party and issued his membership card.

The event drew the presence of prominent political figures, including David Mark, the ADC national chairman, as well as Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, Dino Melaye, and John Odigie-Oyegun, alongside party supporters and stakeholders.
His move comes shortly after he announced his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, the platform under which he contested the 2023 presidential election.
“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect.”
“I seize this opportunity to express my profound gratitude for the honour and privilege of serving as the party’s national leader and its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections.”
