A man accused of racially abusing Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo during the Premier League opener has been banned from every football stadium in the UK.

The incident occurred during Bournemouth’s clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Friday, prompting a brief halt in the first half after Semenyo reported the abuse to the referee.

Police said a 47-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested the following day on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and has since been released on bail. His bail conditions prohibit him from attending any regulated football match in the UK and from going within a mile of any football stadium.

Merseyside Police confirmed the investigation is still ongoing.

Despite the incident, Semenyo scored twice as Bournemouth fought back from two goals down, though Liverpool eventually triumphed 4-2.

The 25-year-old Ghanaian international later wrote on social media that the night at Anfield would stay with him forever, praising his teammates, Liverpool players and fans, and Premier League officials:
“Football showed its best side when it mattered most.”
