Patrick Dooley from Killarney has been convicted of murdering his older brother, Thomas Dooley, during a funeral in County Kerry.
The incident occurred at Rath Cemetery in Tralee, where Thomas, 42 years old and a father of seven, was attacked by a group of men armed with weapons. Patrick, 36, was among six people put on trial for the murder, most of whom were related to the victim.
Three individuals, including a male teenager, were found guilty of Thomas Dooley’s murder by a jury at the Central Criminal Court in Cork. The jury will continue deliberations next week for the remaining two defendants, both cousins of the victim: 29-year-old Michael Dooley and 42-year-old Daniel Dooley. During the attack, Thomas’s wife, Siobhán Dooley, was also seriously injured.
