The horrifying crime, which reportedly earned Sithole $15,000 USD (about 200,000 Botswana Pula), has left communities in both Botswana and Zimbabwe in a state of profound shock and outrage.

Earlier this year, Sithole was accused of orchestrating a gruesome scheme where he trafficked his stepson to individuals allegedly involved in ritual sacrifices.

According to reports, Sithole negotiated with the ritualists, agreeing to hand over the child in exchange for a substantial sum of money. Tragically, this sinister transaction culminated in the unimaginable suffering and death of the young boy.

A month after the child was reported missing, Botswana authorities made a grim discovery—a human skull in an area suspected to be linked to ritualistic activities. DNA analysis later confirmed the remains belonged to the missing child, solidifying suspicions of Sithole’s involvement in the heinous crime.

The confirmation of the boy’s identity delivered a devastating blow to his grieving family and shocked both nations. The cruelty of the act has left communities struggling to comprehend such an atrocity. Citizens from Zimbabwe and Botswana have united in condemning the barbaric crime, demanding justice for the innocent child.

Botswana law enforcement acted swiftly following the discovery of the remains. Sithole was arrested shortly after that, and investigations revealed his direct role in facilitating the sale of the boy to the ritualists. This revelation has ignited widespread anger and sorrow, with many calling for the harshest penalties to be imposed on Sithole.

Sithole now faces the death penalty, a sentence that looms heavily over him as Botswana’s legal system prepares to move forward with his sentencing.
